February 8th - 10th, 2006, New Delhi, India

Overview

LinuxAsia 2006 was a conference on Open Source software held on February 8th-10th, 2006 at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. This 3-day conference included topical sessions and forums along with technology workshops, networking events and special programs.

As a part of the outreach work after the launch ceremony of NepaLinux in December 2005, Nepal country component of PAN Localization  project participated in the LinuxAsia 2006. This team was comprised of Mr. Amar Gurung, Mr. Paras Pradhan, Mr. Basanta Shrestha and Mr. Pawan Chitrakar.  At this event NepaLinux was showcased as one of the software localization projects during its .ORG Mela. Mr. Paras Pradhan and Mr. Amar Gurung presented a joint paper of the NepaLinux experience during the event conference as well. The presentation was well received and generated a lot of queries from the audience.

The NepaLinux stall attracted quite a number of visitors who were interested in localization. The feedback on NepaLinux was also quite encouraging. On the whole the participation in the event was very helpful for the team in terms of sharing and learning experiences as well as in using the platform to network with other similar projects being carried out elsewhere.
