The Department of Information Technology and Dzongkha Development Commission with financial assistance from IDRC has undertaken some basic research and development work making Dzongkha computing functional for common office and  other computer applications in Linux platform. As part of this task, the localization team has translated over 5000 basic computing related words/phrases from English to Dzongkha within a span of less than six months in 2006.
