The participants
enjoyed the insight into Pakistani history they received on their
trip to the Lahore Museum as well as the Change of Guard at Wahga
Border. It was arranged on 17th June, after the first
midterm to refresh the trainees.
Lahore Museum is located opposite the old University
Hall, a Mughal style building on the
Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam. The Museum contains some
fine specimens
of Mughal and Sikh door-ways and wood-work. It has
also a collection of musical instruments, ancient jewelry, textile,
pottery and armory. There are relics from the Graeco-Bactrian times
as well as well as some Tibetan and Nepalese work.
After visiting the museum, the participants
were taken to the Lahore-India border to see the change of guard
ceremony. It is a ceremonial border, where, each evening,
armed soldiers from each side of the border enact a parade
while lowering their respective flags to the sounding of bugles. The
soldiers from both sides of the border shake hands before closing
the border gates.
