The main roles and
responsibilities of the Department include the following:
|
|
|
|
-
Assist the
Ministry in planning infrastructure development in consultation
with BCA and the public and private sectors.
-
Design and
implement projects for national network(s) particularly
interconnecting of all Dzongkhags and Gewogs, using combination of
technologies.
-
Act as interface
between the Government and Private sector for planning the
required infrastructure.
-
Organize
workshops, seminars and meetings on the emerging technologies, on
national, regional and international levels.
-
Research on
networking and hardware components and make necessary
recommendation on the new technology for adoption to the
government.
-
Provide
assistance to BCA in analysis of technical matters, including
interconnections, radio frequencies and use of technical
standards.
-
Prepare technical
specifications for hardware.
-
Carry out
certification of hardware including locally assembled computers.
