to the selfless, ceaseless and imaginative efforts of the Foundation FAST, it inherited  four first rate computer science institutes located at Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar, in spacious buildings and prestigious settings. These institutes, individually as well as collectively, have established leadership position due to the splendid vision of an enlightened management and tireless efforts of a highly qualified faculty. Centre for Research in Urdu Language Processing, NUCES, Pakistan

 

Center for Research in Urdu Language Processing (CRULP) under National University of  Computer and Emerging Sciences, is conducting research and development in linguistic and computational aspects of Urdu and other languages of Pakistan. Formation of CRULP was announced at the

 

 

“First National Urdu Software Development Workshop” held in March of 2001 at National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan in March 2001, and was established in July 2001. The center was established to conduct research and development in the areas of speech processing, computational linguistics and script processing.

Regional Project Leader: Dr. Sarmad Hussain

He has a BS in Computer Engineering (University of Texas, Austin, TX, USA, 1992), MPhil in Computer Speech and Language Processing (University of Cambridge, UK, 1993) and PhD in Speech Science/Linguistics (Northwestern University, 1997). He is currently a professor at National University of Computer and Emerging

 

Sciences, Lahore Pakistan, where he is also the founding head of Center for Research in Urdu Language Processing and coordinates MS programs in Software Project Management and MS Computer Science (specialization in Script, Speech and Language Processing).

Regional Senior Research Officer: Ms. Sana Gul

 

 

She has a BS in Computer Science from National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. Now she is doing her Masters in Software Project Management.  She has been working as research officer in Regional Office of PAN Localization Project for three years.

He has done BS in Computer Science and currently enrolled in MS Computer Science Program from National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan.
